STORFORSEN - Northern Sweden

“Storforsen is the name given to large rapids on Piteälven in the province of Norrbotten County in northern Sweden. They are located about 38 km northwest of the town Älvsbyn. At a fall of 60 meters, an average of 250 m³ of water per second roll down the valley, making it one of the largest rapids in Scandinavia. The total length of the rapids from start to finish is 5 km, overcoming a height difference of 82 m. During midsummer, the water level is highest, with about 870 m³ of water per second.”
